The Pier at Santa Monica - July 9

We slept in a little this morning. Blair and Molly started talking to each other around 9:00 a.m., and I heard them say that they were planning on walking across the street by themselves to get donuts. I interrupted them and told them that they were not going to go out by themselves. They said they understood and that they had planned to go together. I explained that they were not going out together either without Jerry or me! Now we didn't get in to our hotel room until about 8:00 p.m. last night, and at 9:15 this morning, Blair responded, "But we're spending so much time in the hotel room!"
After awhile, we went down the pier to find something for breakfast which ended up being at The Coffee Bean. Brooke had a chocolate chip cookie and water. I almost told her to get something "healthy", but her choices were muffins, bagels, or croissants! I figured the cookie was just as "healthy." We enjoyed walking around on the pier, and then we went back to our hotel room to get our bathing suits. We got out to the beach around noon. The wind blew off the ocean the entire time, which I think it always does, and the temperature was only 71 degrees. The temperature of the ocean was 65.  I only got my feet wet, Jerry got in for about 15 minutes, and the girls jumped waves and played in the sand for about 2 hours until they got hungry. We they came out of the water, they were freezing. Blair said that she was so cold that she didn't have feeling in her hands! Sitting on the beach, I didn't get too warm at all. So we grabbed some lunch that we took back to the hotel pool. Luckily, the pool was heated, and after a heated pool, we decided that we were finished with the beach for the day.
In the evening, Jerry, Blair and Molly walked around Santa Monica shopping. We somehow lost Blair's one pair of jeans, and one pair of jean capris in Las Vegas. We (Jerry!) must have left them in the dryer is the only thing we can think of. But she is excited about the new pair of jeans that she got tonight, along with a jacket and a few beads for a necklace. Molly got a new shirt and a new book, The Immortal Fire.
While they were shopping, Brooke and I stayed in the hotel, doing laundry and packing. We made sure that we got everything out of the dryer! Tomorrow we are headed for Yosemite National Park, which is about a 5 1/2 hour drive.
I forgot my camera, but took a few with my phone.  Now I just need to figure out how to get them from them from my phone to my computer.
Mileage total today - Zero!

  1. Hey Guys,
The pics look great. I love the one that reads Jerry's Nuggets.

The guys had me over for some farewell/celebration beers last night and we talked until the sun set at Jarrett's house. It was nice of them. We didn't talk much of marriage though. I got no advice froma anyone.

Jerry, Gwen is transferred. I always liked her, though. She was very kind to me.

Oh! I got the job at Heather Ridge! So thanks for that tip Jerry. That's the second time I've been hired over the phone just from my cover letter and resume! Nice!

The lawns are doing well. Mrs. Donald has hooked me up with 2 tupperware things of raspberries. Hey Bev, I want to know if I can snip a couple (or a few) of your hydrangea blooms for my rehearsal dinner this Friday? They are big and full right now.

Send some more pics. Did you see the redwoods, Muir Woods, San Francisco? Lake Powell, Utah? Is Mesa Verde still on the agenda. I wish I was out West again. Peace...

  2. I got raspberries from Nana, too!

Something about this post just sounded so...nice. I'm not sure why. Just the peace of it, I guess. Cookies for breakfast, a swim in the ocean, heated pool, new duds and books...just lovely.
